340B Coalition Summer Conference 2019
Washington, D.C., July 15-17
340B remains a prominent part of our national conversation about health care in 2019. Members of Congress, administration officials, health care industry stakeholders, patient advocates, and the media are focused intently on the prescription drug pricing issue. This gives all of us continuing opportunities to demonstrate how 340B plays a critical role in maintaining and expanding access to affordable care through safety-net health providers.
For all the information and guidance you will need to maximize these opportunities, please come to our nation’s capital this July for the 340B Coalition Summer Conference. You will get up to speed on the latest developments around 340B drug pricing transparency, HRSA 340B audits and other federal oversight activities, explore the latest trends in contract and specialty pharmacy, access the resources and advice you need to run your 340B programs effectively, and hear about some of your peers’ innovative approaches to patient care.
You will get chances to learn more about 340B compliance and operations topics, including inventory management, Medicaid billing developments across states, and strategies for avoiding diversion and duplicate discounts. Several sessions will be led by HRSA on new developments in the compliance area. You will have many opportunities for networking with your colleagues from around the nation.
And there’s no better place than D.C. to learn the latest developments in national health policy.
The new 116th Congress wasted no time in diving into the drug pricing debate, with numerous hearings focusing on such issues as insulin costs, pharmacy benefit manager rebates, and generic drug competition. 340B has been mentioned in the context of several of these discussions. Lawmakers again have introduced legislation that would scale back the 340B program.
We have seen some promising developments on transparency and accountability with the long-delayed implementation of new penalties for overcharging going into effect on Jan. 1 and a valuable new website listing 340B drug ceiling prices going live on Apr. 1. These gains did not come without a fight, but we have made progress. And we continue to seek legal remedies to the unprecedented 30 percent cut in Medicare Part B payments to many 340B hospitals.
For covered entities, pharmacies, service providers, drug manufacturers, and agency officials, attending the Summer Conference is the best way to stay on top of 340B in 2019.
We look forward to seeing you in July!
