About Hyacinth's Place
Hyacinth's Place LogoHyacinth’s Place is a permanent, affordable housing program with comprehensive therapeutic and social re-integration services for homeless women with a mental diagnosis. In collaboration with the DC Department of Behavioral Health, the program aims to create an environment where women can work and live together in a place that nurtures and supports their recovery; focusing on emotional, financial, and vocational stability.

Over the past ten years we have dedicated our services to homeless women from all eight wards in Washington, DC, with histories of former incarceration to those who held high paying federal jobs. They are challenged to move above and beyond their personal circumstances while being equipped with skills to improve their quality of life. We strive to facilitate long term impact that results in restoration to family, the community, and society—one woman at a time.

The $3.5 million, four-story, 9,228 square foot development provides 15 furnished studio apartments, complete with individual full bathrooms and kitchenettes. The building space accommodates staff offices, laundry facilities, and group activities. In addition, the design incorporates green building principles which embody the regenerative spirit in which the project was imagined.

The bedrock of our organization rests on honesty, efficient stewardship of resources, and utmost respect for one another and the community we serve. Our core values permeate every operational task and service we render. More information is available at www.hyacinths.org .
