The 340B Coalition is thrilled to invite you back to the nation’s capital for this year’s Summer Conference, occurring Aug. 1-3, 2022. We will be meeting in National Harbor, Md,, just outside Washington, D.C. As always, the conference will be a must-attend event for all 340B stakeholders – covered entities, pharmacies, service providers, drugmakers, government agency officials, and all those committed to providing care to low-income and rural patients in need.
Since we last met in D.C. in 2019, the 340B drug pricing program has accomplished great successes and experienced some massive developments. Our nation’s safety-net hospitals, health centers, and clinics report that their program savings are more critical than ever in supporting their central patient care missions. Many tell us that they could not have been so effective in serving on the front lines of the national COVID-19 pandemic response without those resources.
At the same time, 340B faces challenges that grow by the day. In 2019, drug companies were still following their legal commitments to the safety net by offering drug discounts on all eligible 340B purchases. Since then, a growing number of companies have imposed unilateral restrictions on those discounts when covered entities dispense drugs through community and specialty pharmacy partners. Pharmacy benefits managers, health insurers, and others increasingly have set their sights on obtaining the benefit of 340B savings that are intended for safety-net providers.
We will be discussing these issues and more when we meet in August. Conference sessions will provide the 340B intelligence you need. Federal officials and compliance experts will offer guidance on following all applicable federal and state laws. Health providers and other professionals will share their best practices and patient care innovations. The conference will feature the latest updates on 340B on Capitol Hill, in the courts, in the administration, and at statehouses throughout the U.S. This information will ensure we can advocate for and protect 340B on behalf of our organizations and our patients.
The conference again will provide opportunities to meet with your peers in the community through stakeholder breakout sessions, exhibit hall events, and networking receptions. We also will have occasion to celebrate the storied history of the 340B drug pricing program, which turns 30 years old later this year!
